Our clients need your help and you can make a lasting impact. We're looking for both students and professionals with a heart to use their talents, skills, and work experience to serve Christian-based NGOs.
Christian ministries experience challenges in developing the proper business infrastructures to execute their missions. Students and professionals experience challenges in integrating faith with work. Synergy's services transform these challenges into mutually beneficial solutions.
In every Synergy Ministries consulting team, team members:
We seek those with the qualified skills and talents as well as the appropriate spiritual maturity for working in a cross-cultural context. If this describes you, please apply for a trip.
Traditionally, Synergy schedules short-term engagements between the months of May and August to accommodate the schedules of team members. Thus, our recruiting efforts are focused on the first and second quarters of the calendar year.
During the first quarter, we engage university fellowship groups and church groups to recruit students and business professionals. We depend on personal networks and alumni connections to facilitate presentations with these organizations. Synergy Alumni or Directors visit the groups and speak to them in person if possible. If not, we also offer conference calls with visual presentations or a video presentation in lieu of live presentations.
We accept applications to join our engagements all through April. Each candidate is interviewed by at least one existing or former Director. The candidate is assessed in the areas of business competence, experience, interpersonal communication and, most importantly, spiritual maturity. Potential team leaders are identified throughout the process and are interviewed by at least one additional Director.
We assemble Project Teams based on geographic/domain preferences, project needs and logistical requirements. Upon acceptance into a Project Team, the missionaries are required to submit a non-refundable deposit that is equal to the cost of airfare for their designated trip. The balance of projected trip expenses is required from the missionary by the first day of the trip.
Our consulting teams are usually four to six members and staffed with an appropriate mix of business professionals and college students. In preparation for the engagement, team leads are charged with:
On-site, team leads in each of our engagements are responsible for the execution of project related tasks, facilitating group studies and planning traditional missions activities.
In May, all missionaries are required to attend a Synergy's Training Weekend. This is an opportunity for the team members to spend time together in play, work and prayer, build relationships and receive training that is specific to global missions work and their client.
Similar to Christian small groups and traditional Christian missions, our teams hold daily group studies during their engagements. These studies allow team members to reflect on the project and to develop deeper spiritual fellowship with one another. In addition, a large component of these studies explores how faith can be integrated with work.
Some of the group study modules include:
In addition to engagement related activities, our teams lead and participate in traditional mission trip activities. Although the exact activities vary by engagement, previous activities have included:
After the conclusion of the project, Synergy confidentially solicits feedback from team members. This feedback is analyzed by the Directors and provided to team members and team leads in order to further develop them professionally and spiritually.
Synergy volunteers are responsible for raising both financial and prayer support. Key finance dates to remember are:
